in series wiring using a standard 5-way switch?

Hello, I have a technical question:

Is it possible to achieve in series wiring with two pickups selected when using a standard 5-way Strat style switch ? (not a super switch)

Just as an example, suppose a guitar with three single coil pickups, would it be possible to get the following combinations:

- Bridge
- Middle & Bridge in Series
- Neck & Bridge in Parallel
- Middle & Neck in Series
- Neck

thanks

Re: in series wiring using a standard 5-way switch?

The five-way CRL type lever selector switch achieves position 2 by bridging the terminals for positions 1 and 3. Similarly, it achieves position 4 by bridging the terminals for positions 3 and 5.

Hence, some of the pickup output conductor wires required for adjacent selections in your proposed circuit would be interconnected two ways at the same time.

Your circuit will require a 24-contact, 4-pole Superswitch.

I see. Thanks.

So how come series wiring can be achieved on a 4-way switch like is used on the common 4-way Tele Mod ?

Re: in series wiring using a standard 5-way switch?

The four-way lever selector switch has ten contacts. Hence, there is no need for bridging between adjacent terminals.

In the Telecaster circuit, whenever one pickup appears on successive positions, a jumper connection needs to be made using insulated wire.

Tried to find a solution, but couldn't think of any. I don't think it's possible the way you asked. I was close to a solution, but that would require the middle conductor on one side to be only active in position 2, not in 1+2 or 2+3.

That idea requires a twelve contact Oak Grigsby type five-way switch.
