Incoming NAD just came in...

Phantasmagoria

watch where you point that sabre
A 100 watt Randall T2HL (Tube/SS hybrid)....ie the newer/smaller/also-discontinued version of the 400 watt T2. Bought it 'Used/like new' ...paid just over a third of the (already pretty low :p) MRP for it & int'l shipping was cheap too....so ...a killer deal!

Sounds like a beast through my 4x12..very br00tal & shredtastic but also stays sweet & tubey/warm. I was surprised by the lack of noise when I cranked it. Considering all the grittiness & unlimited gain.. it's pretty quiet. Gets really punchy and responsive when it's cranked, but sounds killer at whisper soft volumes too..so it can be my late night noodling machine :)

Here's a vid of the combo version...pretty much what this head sounds like.. \m/

:beerchug:

I've been playing around with it and it's pretty amazing (especially) for the price. The mid level & sweep knobs make it really versatile & there are some killer rock/classic metal tones to be had with the boost disengaged. But with that thing switched on it's total metal mayhem & unbelievably fluid/sweet shred all the way :D

The cleans are extremely good too, they can get very sweet/airy or pretty attacking/dynamic or just round, fat & sweet depending on how you dial them in (..enjoyed playing some Ron Thal-type funk/Fade to Black-ish intro sort of stuff). Very pleasantly surprised ..but that's not what I bought it for :lmao:

Well, it certainly looks the business! Does it have an emulated or line level output for direct recording?

Re: Incoming NAD just came in...

Thanks man :) I think it sounds nastier than it looks haha...really enjoying messing around with it :headbang:

Yeah..it's got a direct recording out (XLR) ..looks like this at the back (sorry for the crappy pic, there's not much light/space there & the flash gets too bright)

Re: Incoming NAD just came in...

Coolness - except for the tubes of course, where hawtness applies.

Re: Incoming NAD just came in...

haha..thanks Aceman! It's actually got a full tube preamp (12AX7's) & a single 12AT7 as a power section buffer. I honestly don't miss the tube hawtness at all...it responds/sounds/feels/ 'all-tube'.

I actually chose it over the new Diavlo, which sounded great but sort of overlapped with my other heads in terms of tone. This one sounded different/awesome.

Speaking of hawtness, it's fan-cooled ...how hawt is that? :D
