inexpensive rebal pedal

I'm a bass player and only a casual guitar player. I do not have nor do I plan to buy a guitar amp, but would like to get an inexpensive ($100 max) reverb pedal for when I plug the guitar I'm using into my bass practice amp (which has no reverb). Any suggestions?

Re: inexpensive rebal pedal

My advice would be to try and find a used EH Holy Grail Reverb pedal. But even I will say to try before you buy. People either seem to love them or hate them, with no in-between. I've never seen anything (as far as musical instruments and gear is concerned) that people are so split on. I absolutely love them. But many people hate them. It's almost schitzo to read the reviews on them. You wonder if they are really talking about the same pedal. Hence, why I said to try before buying.

Re: inexpensive rebal pedal

get one of the Digitech RP series pedals

if your amp has an effects loop just plug in the return loop

think of your bass amp is just one large PA

I ran this way with my Carvin Redline

just used the Power section with the amp models and effects

Re: inexpensive rebal pedal

i'd look at the guitar center used section on their website for a hardwire RV-7 or a tc electronic Hall of Fame. they are right around $100 or less, used, and if you end up selling it you won't take nearly as much of a depreciation hit. both of those pedals are great for adding a little verb.

Re: inexpensive rebal pedal

if you just want dirt cheap get ther behringer reverb pedal, its not bad. But if you want a bit more quality under $100 get the Digitech Digiverb, cant go wrong with that. You can find them on ebay for like $50

Re: inexpensive rebal pedal

Thanks--the Digitech Digiverb sounds like the ticket.

the hardwire is the higher end version of the digiverb, keep that in mind too. I just sold my digiverb on ebay, i saw a couple more up there

Re: inexpensive reverb pedal

I've settled on one of these but I'm unsure of whether the 2nd and 3rd ones are worth the extra cash:

Digitec Digiverb

DigiTech HardWire RV-7

DigiTech HardWire

Any thoughts?

Re: inexpensive rebal pedal

the supernatural would probably be way overkill. subtle isn't its strong suit, and even when trying to dial it back, i had trouble getting a nice subtle spring verb. the decay is longer than the rv7, even at lower settings. if you're looking for something more pronouced, along with some super trippy options, the supernatural is incredible.

i've not played with the digiverb, but the rv-7, especially used, is an awesome pedal.

Thanks--that's what I suspected.

That's my fear--most of the time I will want something more standard.

Will likely go with that.

Thanks!

Re: inexpensive reverb pedal

The EHX Holy Grail is a great all around reverb pedal, which should also be on the list. I own the Supernatural, and it definitely is WAY too big for all the time use. I love it for what it does, but the Grail is my always on reverb.

Sent from my chromed robot turd, using the miserable junk code known as crapatalk.

Re: inexpensive reverb pedal

The Digiverb and Hardwire are in the same ballpark. Like others said, you probably don't want the supernatural for your purposes. I've had both the digiverb and hardwire. I liked the hardwire better, but the digiverb gets the job done.

Re: inexpensive rebal pedal

Thanks to all who weighed in...gonna go for the DigiTech HardWire RV-7.
