long ago in a galaxy far away *1988 to 1990", some of you were not born yet, I purchased this pickup to install in my Gibson Explorer with Kahler tremolo. I wanted to get more info about this pickup installed so long ago. It is a trembucker with the parallel poles configuration. There are no markings top side (no SD branding). It is a four wire. I was lucky enough to find the original box (what luck!). It showed SH-TB1b bridge.
Apparently now obsolete I would like to see the old data sheet and description. Is there a current equivalent model. This topic came up in the archives, but I did not see a response. How about an old catalog showing this pickup? I would like to be able to compare (at least on paper) this pickup with current offerings. All information appreciated.

I also wired this up (long ago) to so some type of series parallel setup on a push-pull volume pot. Is there any good advice on the best approach to use. I have the original little pink schematic sheet, but it shows six was to wire up the pickup.

Thanks
Marc

This is interesting as models are usually either SH or TB. Today the Parallel Axis use PATB. But the original run Crazy 8 was available in TB and SH spacing. I bought both, but sold one on here. I will have to check the parts shelf and see which I kept and what model it is.

I will not take a guess as to what yours would translate to today. Someone like Masta' C may know. Please post a pic of it as that should help. Both top and bottom of you can.

As for how to wire it up, do you want something traditional or do you want maximum versatility?

What you have is the original "Trembucker" model (circa 1987-88), which shortly after its introduction became the "Original" Parallel Axis, known as the PATB-1b today.

Same specs as the current PATB-1b, just cool because it was the first "Trembucker" type pickup that SD offered and came from a great period in the company's history

thanks folks for the quick reply and information. Overall it has a great tone and response in overdrive and high gain usage in the normal humbucker mode. Sounds great in clean mode combined with my front dirty fingers.. When I pull up on my volume pot (parallel wiring I think, have to check) it get brighter, I use this most combined with the neck pu. I will get back with wiring info, did this 34 years ago!
