hi, i was looking into putting humbuckers in my strats, i have a2p's in my les paul, but they dont make that pickup in trembucker. i was thinking of putting a custom custom in the bridge of my strats. what kind of sound do you think i will get out of it, and how does it compare in your opinion to the a2p. oh and thanks you guys for helping me pick out the alnico 2 pro i love it, it sounds awesome. thanx

Re: info on custom custom

iVe always heard that Custom Customs sound great in Strats, so first it will sound great! Ive also heard that you can get anywhere from blues to hard rock so it should be sweet.

The Custom Custom is sweet, especially in strats. It's a very creamy pickup (tons of mids). Sounds great for just about anything, but I've never tried it under metal-esque gain, so I can't help you there if that's what you're looking for. It's basically just a warmer, smoother, creamier Custom.

Re: info on custom custom

The custom custom is AWESOME under any sort of gain. It has a really cool midrange characteristic to it, almost P-90-esqe. As far as I'm concerned, it's only weakness is that its clean sound can be a little dirty and quacky (but maybe that's your thing).

Re: info on custom custom

what im trying to get out of my marshall, is my own kind of sound, but similar to a cross between slash, jimmy page, and eddie van halen. like there sound when they are playing rythm guitar, im in love with that tone eddie van halen has on aint talkin bout love, and people say this is THE pickup, but i want to make sure, also compared to the a2p bridge, whats it like.

Re: info on custom custom

I have an Alnico II pro in the neck and a CC in the bridge on one of my guitars...the CC has more output, but it's still a good setup. The Alnico II pro has a great bottom end and smooth mids, and the highs are almost bell like...almost like a Strat, the CC has a lot of the same charcter but with lots more mids (this really pushes the amp much areder that an A2P), and the tone is even smoother. I went to this pickup to thicken up a bright guitar, I would think that it would do the same in a Strat...I say do it!!!

I would agree. I have the APH in both position of my LP and I have used the CC also. I would say you are about dead on with the comparison. I say do it also!!!
