Hi everyone,

I recently picked up a used Cort Custom Z, and I’ve been trying to find more info about the pickups it came with — but no luck so far.
They are sealed Seymour pickups, passive, with plastic covers and only two wires. There are no visible model numbers, just small stickers saying:
  • SD-Black-Bridge
  • SD-Black-Neck
    Both marked Made in USA.
DC resistance readings:
  • Bridge: 11.12k
  • Neck: 10.98k
They sound great, but I’d love to know more — model, specs, or even guesses. Has anyone seen or used these before?

Thanks in advance!

All the Z-Customs I'm seeing have either Duncan JB/59 or EMG 85/81. Are we sure SD means Seymour Duncan in this case? I haven't seen a Duncan with that kind of sticker before. There's no logo, which is unusual. Haven't seen Duncan mounting tabs that look like that either. Haven't seen Duncan passives epoxied into a plastic cover either.

'SD' could really mean anything. I've never seen a Duncan with just initials. I think just putting 'SD' is probably intention to mislead.

Wow, thank you so much, everyone. Unfortunately, the pickups are exactly like the ones in the eBay. Sadly, I'm accepting that they are fake Duncans. Really, thank you all for the support.

Off brand pickups are getting better

I don't see why sellers continue to deceive folks

Put your own brand on them
Start a trend

Of course the sell more products if they fool people

I was thinking the same thing. At least, try to be humorous: See More Dunkin'.

Just saw this on an ebay site selling fake Duncans

The SH is easily one of the most popular replacement pickups in the world. The SH4 offers the exact sound that many guitarists wish for, especially from the bridge position or in combination with a slightly more restrained neck pickup: high output with many overtones, melodious, and perfect in the middle frequency range
Hand built in South Korea Duncan factory, the JB Model uses an Alnico 5 bar magnet, nickel silver bottom plate, 4-conductor lead wire for multiple wiring options like series, parallel and split coil, and is vacuum wax potted for squeal-free performance. The legendary JB Model has been the ultimate hot-rodded humbucker.

Does SD have a Korean factory?
Really?

They blurred the logos on the images but it would be nice if they showed up with Chinese lettering for the logo
You know Seymour Duncan just in Chinese

That would be cool

Yeah, no pickups identified as 'Seymour Duncan' are made overseas. But hey, anything of value can and will have copies made in China. Copies are all over the fashion and jewelry industries. There will always be people that care about the name more than the quality or sound.
