If anyone has some experience with it I'd appreciate it. Im looking for a tube head on a budget...still lol :smack: . I play mostly bluesy/rock kind of stuff but I do like to have some high gain options aswell.

It's a damn excellent everything-amp. Go to the carvin forum if you want sound clips. I own a legacy and I might put up a used mts in the near future for more high gain stuff.

I've seen these go for insanely low prices on ebay. We're talking like $300 for a near-new one.

Yeah, just keep your eyes peeled and keep checking back. People always overlook those heads for some reason. Also, those old carpet-covered Carvins would probably kick some major ass too. I see those all the time.

Re: Information on the Carvin MTS head

Yes, they sell cheap, but that doesnt mean they arent good. I have an MTS 3212 that I run into a 4x12 cab. It has very satisfying clean, and the distortion is quite amp. If you arent looking for a triple recto, you shouldnt be disappointed. I retubed mine with jj preamp tubes and I get a much smoother and crunchier distortion than stock.. PLUS, I replaced the stock 5881s with Groove tube EL34s and get a much more marshall type of tone. Next time Ill try 6l6s just to see.
I got a bud that uses one on a pro level and gets amazing tone..

Carvin is addictive though, I'm warning you. Once you realize you get great quality stuff for a very good price you keep buying from them. I own the Legacy half stack and just ordered a california carved top guitar. Now I'm looking at an MTS

Re: Information on the Carvin MTS head

Yeah it's too bad about your Legacy, Xeromus. I could never play an amp without that chug chug.

Agreed. Recently scored an SC90 with Floyd. Purple flame maple on mahagony body and neck. Abalone inlays, straplocks, chrome hardware. (ebay ) I put on chrome pup rings, chrome truss cover, pearly gates neck and blues trembucker in the bridge, diff 500k pots and orange drop caps and that is the most incredible axe Ive ever played!!

Re: Information on the Carvin MTS head

ty ty again you guys for the help. Im pretty sure the Carvin is for me. I don't have a lot of experience with tube amps though. If I switch to 6l6s tubes will that get me more of a fenderesque tone?(Im pretty sure they use 6l6s)
