Initial tube amp hum

I have recently bought a tube amp. After I have turned it on for about 20 seconds there is a steadily increasing in volume humming buzz that stops almost as soon as I touch the strings. The amp is always in mute when I initially start up so I am wondering what this could be? It dinesnt happen again until next time I turn the amp on.

Does it do this with no instrument plugged in?

Not quite sure but I always either have a pedal or instrument plugged in

After you touch the strings and the hum goes away, what happens when you take your hands off the strings again?
