I went to install a nickel C5 I just picked up in my PRS only to discover that the cover was flared out both front and back making it too wide to fit in the cavity. It could probably be bent back in but I would have to unsolder/ and resolder the cover to do it. If I just have at it with pliers I will likely break the solder joints anyway.

So I dropped a Seth in to try out instead but this bites.

I'd say you were safer to take the cover cmpletely off, reshape it,and see that you get it to fit back onto the pickup correctly before re-installing it into your PRS....

Or.....Use another cover?

I had another go at it this AM and basically did what you are suggesting. A lot of work just to install a pickup. Here's hoping I don't have to do that again anytime soon.

The good news is so far so good on the C5. It usually takes me a week or so to decide yeah or nay but early exit polls are favorable

Very cool and glad you got it all worked out...You could always do a magnet swap to A2,A3,etc..if the C5 doesn't do it for you? There's a tutorial from me in The Vault on page 2 under "Tips" if you need further..
