Installing 59b In The Neck - Which Way Poles?

Hi.

I have a Jackson Dinky (2 x humbuckers) with a Dimebucker that I love by the way, and have ordered a 59 bridge for the neck. I was wondering, when I install it do have to turn it around so the screws are at the top closer to the neck? Apparently it comes without a logo so that won't matter.

Thanks,
Greg.

I think that it's just a matter of taste. That being said, I would.

I like the screws facing inward nearest the bridge because it bites more.

I would've thought you'd get more bite out of the slug coil because less magnetic field is projected below the coils by the shorter slugs relative to the screws. This causes the slug coil to be louder, which is why the SD coil split diagrams activate the slug coil instead of the screw coil.

Getting back to the OP's question, there will probably be a subtle difference between the two orientations so go with whichever sounds best to you.

No correct answer - whichever sounds best to you.

But, yeah - poles towards neck. Especially no-logo buckers.

With vintage pickups I find that putting the screws closest to the bridge provides a bit more clarity vs. the traditional orientation. It's not a night and day difference, but it's enough that my untrained ear can pick it up. I say give it a try and see what you think. It's an easy fix if you don't like it.

Traditionally the screw coils are furthest apart ("screws out"). However, as mentioned it is really up to you and your ears.

I'm betting that the Dinky is 24 fret?
Better to have the adjustable poles closest to the fretboard.

Both ways will sound just fine. Do whichever makes it look less weird.

Try it.

So that would be screws closest to brideg right? So as if I'm putting it in the bridge, but I just move it up to the neck hole. This seems to be the most recommended way. Just trying to get it right first go so I don't have to undo everything again.

Wiring...? I have done a full strip-out rewire before with push-pull coil splits, so its not my first time, and I put the Dime in. I'm wondering how I wire it.

I appreciate all the help guys. Thankful there's somewhere I can go to ask. Sincerely.

If it did have a logo, being a bridge pup the writing would be the right way up with poles closest to neck anyway, am I right? No logo just gives me the choice - it won't look weird if I do flip it.
