Installing active pickup battery

Hey. My buddy's planning on installing EMG SA active pickups for his Fender Strat. I believe EMG suggests putting the battery under the pickguard in the pickup cavity. However, this requires removing the pickguard to change the battery (even if it is only once a year or so).

Has anyone ever installed the battery in the tremolo cavity (where the springs are)? Any suggestions on the way to go or is this a no brainer and install it under the pickguard? Thanks.

Re: Installing active pickup battery

The battery lasts at least 6 months- so just change it every 6 months when you change the strings.

I don't think it's a good idea to but it in he trem cavity with the springs

Re: Installing active pickup battery

The older Clapton signature model that my buddy has is equipped with a mid-boost and the battery for it is in the trem cavity.

I don't see an issue with it. you just have to get the wires there.

Oh... and you have to route out an area to put it...

I could do it for you if you need.

PM me if interested.
