Installing Pickups

I need some help. I bought a tele bridge pickup off eBay and the wires are all in a gray tube that looks like insulation. How do I hook it up?

Re: Installing Pickups

Take a razor blade and cut the gray insultaion down the length of the wire about an inch long. Then peel back the gray plastic and cut it off. Inside will most likely be a white wire and a ground. There could be more conductors depending on the pickup.
What kind of pickup is it? If you can tell us what it is I or someone else on here could post a wiring diagram for you.

Tyler-
I checked that out on Ebay. I have never seen that pickup before, but I am assuming that it is passive. It looks like there are black and white wires inside the gray sheath.
I would suggest using 250K pots and using the black wire as hot and the white as ground and seeing how it sounds. If it's out of phase with your other pickup then reverse the wires.

Re: Installing Pickups

I guess I should have told you this before, but my tele is wired like a single pickup Esquire. It doesn't have a neck pickup.

Re: Installing Pickups

Paul,

There is thin bare wire wrapped around the white and black wires inside.

The thin bare wire is also a ground. You shouldn't have to worry about whether the white or black is hot, since you are only using one pickup. Use the white as hot and solder the black and bare wires to the back of your volume pot.
