Instrumental project

We've been together since about late october. We started out with a grindcore band in mind but really felt it was going no where. So on a whim we let go of our singer and went for more of an instrumental experiment. Really, we're impressed with the results.

Recordings were done at a local small time, part time studio. The house was perfect and the equipment was great. The better part is that we paid $150 down for the first 10 hours ($15 an hour) and took 18 hours for 4 tracks and an intro track. We were never charged for the rest of the time because the tech liked the music (rare to see that).

The part I was impressed with was his know-how. For the first recording "We Made It Through The Winter," we had 2 mics on my 4x10 '59 RI bassman in an echo canceling room, and split the channel to a deville 4x10 in a big empty room with a 2 mics on speakers and 2 overheads catching the room. It worked out really nice. If you want more detail on the full setup, let me know, or if you want info on the guy we recorded with (for you baltimore area fellas), ill shoot you some info

Myspace Linky..

Thanks for the look and tell me what you think, im very curious to hear other opinions other than my friends :smokin:

PS! Any ideas and pointers on mixing would be much appreciated! these are eq'd and mixed but the final product is still under works, so i still need some ideas on fixes.

Very cool, I especialy like your THICK clean tone, not easy to pull off but you've recorded it VERY well! I added you as a friend on My Space too!:bigthumb:

Haha.. thanks man. i'd accept you if i didn't have to block myspace at work

we double tracked most of the songs. I used a standard tele with antiquity's for everything. the bridge in "spun" has the neck position on one track and bridge on the other, worked out fairly cool

cool stuff. Reminds me a bit of this group called Six Parts Seven, you ever hear of them? a little Mogwai sound in there too.

i love this kind of music, good to sit around and relax the mind to. Good job bro.

Re: Instrumental project

I have to check the bands out you guys mentioned, cause this music fascinates me!

Thanks a lot for sharing, makes life a bit easier to live...and I'm not exaggerating :D This sphere/ambient/rock mix is really my cup of tea!

Good luck with the band and the up-coming projects!

Re: Instrumental project

This music is great, and I'll second that it has a kinda mogwai/explosions in the sky/minus the bear sound to it. Keep up the good work.

Re: Instrumental project

It is a little hard to tell how much I liked it because the cymbals kept crashing in and ruining the mix. What I could clearly hear was nice.

I hear you. Thats something we're getting fixed before we call it finished. Our drummer has a pretty **** ridiculous set to keep up with, so mixing it all properly is a pain.

Thanks to everyone, the rest of the guys appreciate your reponses too.

Re: Instrumental project

sounds cool man! dig the vibe.

and thanks for not being yet another grindcore band.

Re: Instrumental project

wow, how did i miss this for so long?

very very good ... very well conceived and executed ... nice guitar tones too

the future of music is bright if more young guns are pursuing this style

let me know when the CD is done and when you are playing out
