Interesting Portable Solution for Home Use!

Saw this on Reddit yesterday...

Kind of a cool idea if you have a smaller combo amp or cab and want to get your pedals up to desk height for easier tweaking while you work or practice.

I like that it only requires a single power plug and can be easily moved or wheeled out of the way when needed.

It's basically a rolling DJ/audio equipment rack with velcro-covered boards mounted to the top to create the "pedal board". I could see adding a sturdier platform to the base with a foam wedge to angle the amp/cab upward slightly, but this is a cool concept IMO!

What do you think?

I'm thinking of doing this to keep my pedals somewhat out of reach of my toddler!

The ability to move the whole setup to another room or a different part of the room without having to connect/disconnect a bunch of cords is kind of nice, too.

I'm currently using a pedalboard power amp and a 1x12" speaker cab for my main home rig, so modding a cheap rack like this could be a good option.

We got ours on Amazon. We wanted the option to be able to roll the recording rack across the space to record other setups, depending on who was playing.

Securb, if you get the chance, could you possibly take 2 measurements for me? I'd like to know:

a) the distance between the top of the base and where the fixed angle tube that supports the top platform starts (i.e. where a cab would sit as in the photo I posted)
b) the depth of the base behind the front rails?

My particular 1x12" cab is ~18.5" tall and ~12" deep. I suspect the depth won't be an issue, but I'm a little concerned about the height.

Ideally, I would be able to angle the cab back slightly so it fires a little more upward since it would be so close to the floor. The angled top rails might actually help accommodate that, as long as the overall height beneath the rails isn't too short.

I will tell you that the "base" is just a frame; there is no bottom. If you want to put an amp there, you will have to fabricate something, either a piece of wood or metal, to sit the cab on. Should be easy enough. If you look at our picture, the mixer does not have rack ears. I had to get a piece of sheet metal from Tractor Supply, cut it to size, and drill in the screw holes. And I put a couple of pieces of wood under it to allow the vents to circulate.
