Internal pickup wiring

Hey guys, anyone know if the wires of a pickup can be replaced without having to rewind a pickup? I have an old pickup in which a wire has broken very close to the bobbin. I can't extend the lead very easily, can I just replace the wiring somehow? Thanks.

Re: Internal pickup wiring

I don't think that there will be an easy way to do this. You're going to have to peel a little bit of the wire back, to be able to resolder a new lead on to it.

I'ld be happy to take a shot at it if you want. PM me, and I'll send you my address. ;)

Re: Internal pickup wiring

It really depends on if the break is near the outside of the winding. There's so much wire wrapped around most pickups that you can often just unwind the broken off wire, toss it, and then resolder your lead to the remaining wire on the coil without hearing any real diff. I'd try that first. Lew
