Invader bridge parallel in neck

Hey guys

Has anyone ever tried an invader bridge in the neck slot wired in parallel? I am dead keen to try this - just to see how it'd sound..

Even in paralell it would still be way too dark, and the string pull would be ridiculous...

Well if I were to try it I'd swap the main mag for an A3, but have you tried any hot pup in parallel in the neck? Or are you just taking an educated guess?

I think the string-pull issue is almost as important as tone. The looser area of the strings is more susceptible to a loss of sustain and even being pulled a little out of tune by something like an invader. I tried a Super Distortion (less hot than yours) and it was "woofy" as hell and noticeably killed the sustain, even wired in parallel. You could stick a weaker mag in there and try it. In parallel, you might hear a nice chime and with those big pole hex screws, it might sound awesome!

Yea I think there's this logic that how the pup sounds compared to a normal pup, will make it sound great in parallel in the neck. But yes it might not translate..

Invader string pull isn't as bad as it could be, given the heaps of magnets. The big screws are imperfect field transmitters, so you lose some of the pull.

I've seen people use the Invader neck with no problems, and as far as I know it has the same magnet arrangement, with a lighter wind. I didn't notice whether they had the pickup backed off more than usual, I didn't get a close enough look at the guitar to be sure.

I've seen people get string warble out of A2 pickups, though. It's all in getting the correct distance.

Re: Invader bridge parallel in neck

One of my Teles (HH, Agathis, Maple neck) is setup for parallel/series/either coil switching for bridge and neck. I loved the Invader neck in the neck of that guitar, and in the bridge of my LP as well. I also have an Invader bridge. I'll install it in the next couple of days and let you know how it sounds. I'm swapping in that guitar right now anyhow. I'll be putting the Invader neck in the bridge, so I'll throw the Invader bridge in the neck, why not.

I typically don't like pickups in parallel. I think most sound really nice in parallel for cleans, just not much else. My band doesn't play anything clean.

Btw, does anyone know if the Invader neck has the same magnets (3 ceramic) as the bridge, or just the one ceramic? It's a brilliant pickup, imho. Sorry, not to hijack the thread, but I thought it might be relevant since there's talk about string pull. - answered above.

The problem with the Invader bridge in the neck isn't the output...it's the EQ

I have tried a Tone Zone in the neck (kinda sorta similar EQ) and it was a disaster...and it has an A5, not 3 ceramics!

I have a Custom wired in parallel in the neck of my Les Paul. It sounds fantastic! Very piano like....I stuck it there on a whim, much like you are thinking of doing, and I can't think of a good reason to replace it!
