Invader Bridge Pup In Neck Position

Hey guys.

One of my fav artists used to rock an Invader bridge pup in the neck position of a LP style guitar (mahogany, maple cap).
It was for dark heavy distorted tones.
Does anyone know how this would compare to the 59n I have in my LP Custom?
Thanks!!!

Re: Invader Bridge Pup In Neck Position

I could be very wrong as I have never played a bridge Invader in the neck, but I have a feeling that it would be mud city.

Again, I could be wrong.

I dunno, unless you put it in a suuuper bright guitar.

Compared to a 59n? It would be the most opposite thing duncan makes probably. Who is the guy that does that?

Re: Invader Bridge Pup In Neck Position

It's more than likely a neck model because the bridge model just sounds like a bad idea all around.

It's Elijah Blue from Deadsy.
I was emailing Stephen McSwain, the guy who created his custom guitars.
He had mentioned that Elijah had explicitly asked for 2 bridge pickups installed and they were Invaders.

Here's what they sound like:

I emailed the guy that custom designed his guitar again to confirm and he said that he did have a bridge invader in both positions. Is the issue that it’d be too hot, too flubby, or just really dark sounding? I wish it wasn’t a pain to resolder otherwise I’d like to try it myself.

I had two bridge model Invaders in an old Jackson Kelly XLR (I believe the body was poplar, similar in tone to alder), and they sounded great. Lots of low end, but still pretty balanced sounding overall.

Re: Invader Bridge Pup In Neck Position

I installed aBridge-Invaders in both positions reluctantly, but the outcome was more useful for his style of music than I thought possible... Give it a whirl... At the very least it will be practice on the iron and first-hand experience on this topic if it should ever come up in the forum again...
