Invader Neck Pickup

Hello
I have a Jackson with an Invader in the bridge. I am currently on the market for a new neck pickup. I was thinking of an Invader neck. Does anyone have any thoughts on this or recommendations?

Re: Invader Neck Pickup

No first hand experience, but I've heard a lot of people are disappointed with it. It seems to have the Invader tone, but none of the punch. The Full Shred & Distortion necks are good matches.

Re: Invader Neck Pickup

I haven't heard too many people who use an Invader in the neck. Maybe there's a reason. I'd stay away from a pickup like the Invader in a neck position. The Invader already has a very high bass response, making the sound thick and chunky in the bridge. Put that in the neck, that's a recipe for Mud.

Re: Invader Neck Pickup

The Invader bridge pickup with an Alnico 5 mag from a JB sounds good for really high gain stuff in the neck.

Re: Invader Neck Pickup

Yeah I wouldn't touch it either, the neck position is a position that's very bassy by itself. Too much bass might be a very bad thing if you were to be searching for a balanced and defined sound. I actually think the overall sound would suffer

We could recommend you so many better pick ups for the neck position, just tell us what kinda sound you're looking for

Re: Invader Neck Pickup

I'd put up a vote for the Distortion. It'll have less bass so it won't be as muddy:at the same time it is wound hotter than the Invader neck at 12.7k. So if you're just looking for a nasty neck pickup, it might be worth a try.

Re: Invader Neck Pickup

I have an invader bridge and think its great so im not biased against it, but to be honest i have only heard bad things about invaders in the neck. Great bridge p/up but not really for the neck, so ive heard.

Re: Invader Neck Pickup

I'm an Invader bridge user, crazy loud and bassy it is, I can barely get a clean sound from it.
The Invader neck is apparently the opposite, though. It's lower in output and is apparently VERY bright. There used to be a guy around here that used it in the bridge and said it was great for hi-gain. Apparently there's a capacitor loaded inside the neck model that you can remove and it really opens up the sound of the pickup. If you can find one, it might be a unique sound, the bridge is sure one of a kind.

A capacitor that you can remove?? Wow...I was unaware of that. Can anyone confirm this??

Re: Invader Neck Pickup

I have bought a two invaders second hand, but I can't tell how it sounds in the neck because I haven't installed them yet...

The guy I bought them form had both the invaders in his Gibson LP, but he thought the sound was to heavy... He said they worked nice together, but that may be a lie.

Re: Invader Neck Pickup

I put a Distortion Bridge in and it sounds cool. The only problem is there isn't much sustain. Any ideas on how to improve this?
