Invader pole piece color

Hello.

Anybody here with Invaders that can tell me if the (black) pole pieces are painted or covered with a film type something or if that's the actual color of the metal of the pole pieces???

I got two on their way and need to know.

Regards,

Dale.

Black oxide aka gun bluing iirc?

It's a chemical conversion coating, an oxidation reaction surface treatment that's basically an alternative form of rust or tarnish. It chemically alters the surface composition of the top layer of metal.

No, that is wrong.
They are cauterized on the flamed remnants of our most resistant rivals.

And they say I can talk sh*t!!! LOL!!!

In case anybody is wondering: I use feeler gauges to set pickup height and I don't want to scratch the black Invader pole pieces is all hence my asking.

Darn thing (the bridge pickup) is sitting in customs right now!!! Uuurrrggghhh...!!! Seriously looking forward to this.

Hello.

Don't use a feeler gauge, just adjust it by ear.
Ummmnnn... No. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Must have spent days, probably weeks off and on, trying the "adjust by ear" thing a while back almost to the point of obsession. Trying to find the "sweet spot" or "natural vibrato" by ear: be easier to find the Yeti I'm sure (at least for me). And after a few hours of trying to "adjust by ear": it all starts sounding the same to me. So I eventually standardised on the "nickel method" which, in my terms and in my corner of the world, is 1.95mm. Also: the "nickel method" is just about "smack bang" in the middle of "the usual suspects" that are bandied about (1.6mm and 2.4mm) so it kinda works for me (placebo effect probably). One of my Jacksons, however, is set to Jackson specs. (1.6mm all 'round) and that just seems to work perfect for this particular guitar (which has its stock Jackson pickups and its staying that way).

Of course: I may be in for a surprise with the Invader based on what I've read around these parts about its magnetic pull anyway (that's if it EVER arrives i.e. still in f***ing Customs) (obviously the worst possible time to be ordering stuff from overseas) (to here anyway). And I would imagine that adding the neck Invader (also somewhere in the blue yonder at the moment i.e. different supplier) ain't gonna help matters. Dunno. Will see SOMEDAY I guess!!! LOL!!!

Re: Invader pole piece color

Invaders are not very particular about polepiece height. Most of the minutia that could make a big difference in a Seth Lover, for example, would make almost no perceptible change in an Invader.

Re: Invader pole piece color

Hello.

Nah. Not gonna be adjusting pole pieces. Just overall pickup height (from top of pole pieces to bottom of string when string fretted at the last fret).

Was just saying that I could be in for a surprise as, from what I gather, the Invader's magnets are pretty staunch.
