Is anyone here experienced with EMG?

I've ordered a few EMG 85, 89xr, S, SA, and SAX pickups. We'll see what I like. If anyone has reliable information on Mark Knopfler's mod for achieving a Strat-like sound with an 85 and SA pickup, I'd be grateful. Apparently, the EMG 85's output stage uses a resistor and capacitor in the second position; I think a Super or Megaswitch will be needed. Can anyone with more experience confirm whether it's possible to create an EMG 89 autosplit without a pushpull?

I noticed that the X version comes with an active tone, while the non-X version comes with a passive tone. What's the difference? If I want to mix, for example, 89x SA SA, which one should I use?

Isn't that a myth? The pdf on the EMG website states 600 hours for the 85, and 3000 hours for the 85x :)
Thats what im talking about! Lol.

Emg 57/66 are in the hundreds, while thev57/66tws are in the thousands..

I think i read somewhere that the new chips used in the X series are more efficient or something?

I have a line (email address) for emg CS. I have a few questions for them. Ill ask. No harm in that right?

Im asking about:
white covers for the 57/66tws.

Real world Battery life between an sa and sax sets

Usage of bqc eq system, vmc, etc w/guitars.

If the 60tw is available still.

If I can rotate the 57tw to use the split as an inner coil and not have phasing issues with the neck.

If using a vmc, run a separate battery to it? 2 batteries in parallel for longer life?

Battery life of the external eq systems. Do they die quicker the more you boost? How about if theyre only used to cut?

Ill report back with the responses.

i ran an 81/sv/sv with pa2 and spc setup in a strat for years. i changed the battery every six month or so and never had an issue.

you can run two batteries in parallel for longer life, but i dont know if id bother.

the active eq use similar power whether boosting or cutting as far as i know.

Yes! This is possible (89). I asked.
The 85 bridge/middle thing sounds like arties de mud mod.

They sent me a diagram, which for the life of me, i can't find. Not even the og email has it. Gone!

But not forgotten!

Its super simple. You wire the humbucker and single coil leads to separate poles. So an 89 would use 2 different poles. 57/66tws or 81tw/89 would use a whole super switch. You would add a middle single coil where possible between the 4 poles.

If you just want to split an HSS bridge, then 2 poles are all you really need

The common lugs all get wired to the volume pot.

Email them them if you're one that needs the picture. I was, until I saw how they did it.

I ended up using a 3 way emg tele switch and the 2 supplied push/pulls in a 1v/1t HH setup that better suited how i use the guitar.

How are you configuring all those?
One guitar?

Very interested in your responses.

Have fun! You're gonna love the quick connect system.

Thank you sir for this.

I had to breakout the calculator as I thought about this.

Doing the math....
2hrs a day= ~15 per week

Divide the 300 Fluence hours by that and you get 20 weeks or 5 months.

Who plays a particular guitar that much every single day?

So, it appears the reality is that 300 hours is easily 6 or 7 months od real world time.

Wow.

When you break it down that way, its really a non issue.

Perspective, why is it always in the rear view mirror? lol
