I wouldn't call either a mid output. Vintage pafs were wound to around 8.2K. The JB, at 16.5K is twice that. The Custom Custom, at 14.4K or so, is still alot hotter than a vintage paf. DC resistance isn't the same as output, I know. But still, the JB and the Custom series are pretty hot pickups, IMO. Lew

The Custom Custom has Alnico 2 Magnet in it and the JB has an Alnico 5 magnet in it. The Custom Custom is a smoother warmer pickup than the JB but still has good output.

Both pickups are pretty bulky in the mids, but I prefer to think of the JB as the uppermid pickup, and the CC as the lowermid pickup. I like both, but I like the lower mid growl of the CC much more.

And that's why I hate the JB and I'm looking to get a Custom Custom for my Hamer Artist.

On the Seymour Duncan' website, the specs of the CC show that the CC has pretty low output, at least much lower than the JB. So, I donot know whether it can perform heavy stuff like Megadeth very well. Thanks.

The higher output doesn't necessarily = a heavier tone. Lots of metal freaks love the lower output pickups. Give you more control for voicing through your amps/guitars.

I will say, that despite the JB having such a high DC resistance, it doesn't have nearly as much bite, gain, or as aggressive a touch as the DD, which is lower in DC.
