Is it just me or does my Guitar/Honeymoon phase take months to kick in?

tone?

I have noticed that I dont really get to wowed with guitars right away apart from how well they play.

As time goes by thats when I start to become seriously attached to my guitar.
That is probably why I dont like playing more than one at extended periods of time.

Just as an example......Now that I came to the US I only brought with me my Axis. So from playing only that guitar I am getting really attached to it and finding all the nuances and coaxing all the tones I can from it. I would of never been so attached to it if I was playing other guitars at the same time.

Thats why I dont really get these honeymoon phases I hear about. It takes a while for me to bond with an instrument.

With me, I bond with some guitars sooner than others, and some not at all. Nothing unusual about that. Once I have a good session with one and get some nice lead tones, it's a good fit. That may happen the first time I play it, or it may take a little while. I usually swap PU's and magnets once or twice, so everything has to come together. Like you said, sometimes you have to extract the nuances to really see the potential.

I'm kinda the same way, the more I play and tweak a guitar, the more I know what it can do, and the better I like it.
