I believe the pup is considered a "2 conductor" because it only has 2 wires coming out, like a single coil. When taken apart I saw 3 wires: white going into bottom half, red going out to top, and black going out from top. I was wondering if I could cut wires to change it into a 4 conductor type for modding, seeing as I can get to the in/out wires for both sides very easily.
I have not seen anything on this subject except for "you must have a 3 or 4 conductor pickup", but never an explanation as to why. Yes, I could go out and get a new pickup, but this project is about learning, not taking the easy way. The pickup tone sucked lol so I don't mind screwing it up.
