Is my Twin Tube Mayhem dying?

Hi all.
I got a Twin Tube Mayhem online after loving the clips I saw....
however once I got it I thought it sounded bad and I'm unsure if its me or if there's a problem.

The sound of the pedal sputters like the tube is dying.... however the sputtering isn't noticeable when the settings are mid scooped, so I don't know if the pedal is supposed to sound like that (although the clips I've seen are a lot better). If I dial in any kind of mid heavy setting the pedal sounds very flabby and farty.

Also when I knock on the pedal enclosure I can hear a faint high pitch ring that's amplified - I suspect the tube is microphonic and is being vibrated by my knocking.
Again I know microphonic tubes are a sign of a dying tube but I also understand that all tubes are microphonic to a degree.

I know it's hard to tell from my description but would people say there's a problem?
Any help would be appreciated and I would love to hear from other users of the Mayhem.

I'll try and make a youtube video later.

Well, "tonally" it sounds like the Mayhem but I hear the character of the overdrive that you're talking about. I would call customer service and get it swapped out. A little bit of "ping" is normal, because you're basically stomping on the front end of a tube amp. But if you're just plugging straight into the Mayhem, then that overdrive character doesn't seem right.

Re: Is my Twin Tube Mayhem dying?

Thanks guys. Really sorry the clip is a bit crap and that you can hear my picking.

I've tried the Mayhem through two different amps now (a Fender Champ and a Marshall 1987x). I'm still getting that broken speaker sound at certain settings/moments.

I'll try and get it swapped with customer service once I'm certain its the pedal and not me... I've just been in touch with them and even though they were brilliant I don't want to be a hassle unless I have to, (the Mayhem came with a Euro PSU instead of a UK one as it should of, customer service / the UK distributor were great and replaced it within a day).
