Is the bridge pickup more microphonic?

For the high gain guitarists!

I have a somewhat weird observation:

1. Strat: i have wax potted single coils in the neck and middle, and a seymour duncan custom custom (also wax potted) in the bridge. I noticed at moderate levels, there isn't a problem with microphonics, but once I get really loud, I start to get microphonics from the bridge. Now, flip over to the neck single coil: sure the hum is there, but there are no microphonics.

2. Les Paul: I have a set of alnico 2 pro seymour duncans (wax potted). I repeat the same process above and strangely enough, the neck pickup is fine, but the bridge pickup seems like it's on the verge of blowing up.

I realize it's probably not a question of the bridge pickup being more microphonic, but rather, the position in which a pickup is placed in. Is the bridge POSITION more microphonic by nature?

Any comments?

Generally not, but a lot of people tend to play lead on the Bridge and play louder therefore.

The CC should be revised by a luthier. If the feedback stops when you press your finger on the cover, then he should dampen the cover.
If its without a cover, then it could be the bar magnet which can be fix with some hot wax.

What hamerfan said.

This is most likely feedback from a fluffy mount, not the pickup itself. Use stronger and/or longer springs and make sure the screw holes aren't screwed up (hehe).
