Is the Slash set supposed to be out of phase in the middle position?

If you have a meter, you could do the quicky screwdriver test. red/white twisted together. Black lead on green, red lead on pup black wire. Bring the screwdriver up against the pole pieces, (gently), then yank it away. On a proper Duncan, you should get a few positive millivolts as you approach, and negative when you pull it away.

The Slash set is only single conductor, unless it's a custom order or has been modded, isn't it? Great testing suggestion, though. That's what I love about this place, there's always something to learn if you keep your mind open.

I think you're right. I traded my set for something, so don't have them in front of me. Same test, just use black lead on shield and red lead on the center conductor.

Slash are 2 conductor. Were these bought new from an SD dealer? I'd love to figure out if there was a mistake in production here.

There were also two different "Slash" sets. Two different boxes. One was zebra, (the set I had), and the other had the neck pup flipped. (Color-wise.) I don't know any more details of which came first, or any other distinctions.

Yeah these are single conductor

I am not sure when/where they were originally purchased. They were in a client guitar that was a bit of a trainwreck, he had me pull them and put them aside. I used them briefly to try them out but don't recall the center phase issue.

I have them in a V (2 vol/1 tone) for another client, they sound great but for the center phase issue. It isn't the end of the world but I am trying to figure out what's up?

Well I assumed the mag was flipped but it appears the ground and hot wire were reversed. Instead of getting cute and re-wiring the leads I just ended up flipping the bridge mag and it's all good.

Whew! There have been reports here of other pickups leaving the factory like that, but it is really rare.

This set looks like it is from 2011 so I don't think they snuck out recently lol

They sound pretty great in this guitar, it's one of the Gibson Faded Mahogany V's. It had a set of Distortions in it that were an awful match for the guitar, these really let this thing shine.

Huh? I don't know, doesn't seem to? Maybe it isn't the wires then. Flipping the mag worked fine and they sound great. I have to finish up a few things on it tomorrow, I'll have to check
