Is the Vise Grip a 1:1 copy of the Doubleback or something different?

Hi everyone. I own the old Seymour Duncan Doubleback. It's perfect. Problem is I can't find another one and I would like a 2nd for my other rig. I've called and emailed SD but had no response on either. I'd really like to know if the Visegrip is a 1:1 copy of the doubleback. The tricky part here is I'd hate for SD to be criticized for just shoving an old pedal into a new box to sell to the public. I see Fender get put down all the time because their "New guitars" haven't changed since 1954 (lets not get into that, I stay away from people like that LOL). For me I would be completely happy hearing the Visegrip produces the same compression as the doubleback. As I said, the doubleback is perfect me, I just dont have any local....or distant...store to try the VG and DB side-by-side. I find the the doubleback to be subtle yet extremeloy effective in producing a compressed sound that is very musical and dynamic feeling.....even without engaging the doubleback know. If anybody knows about the guts and sound of the visegrip please let me know. If a SD employee wants to PM with info I can keep to myself then feel free :)

either way it is going to be a good compressor.
Don't sweat the small stuff.

From what I've heard, it is basically the same, but they increased the clean headroom on the double back side. I haven't messed with one or A/B'd them. But that was my only issue with the Double Back. It could overdrive if you pushed the double Back much past 12:00. It was a pleasant light drive, but if you really wanted "loud clean" you had to turn the master volume on the pedal up, and keep the DB around 1:00 depending on how hot your pickups were. With vintage Strat pickups you could get it a lot higher.

If you do get a Vise Grip come back and post how they A/B to one another.

This is a question for Pigbacon.

I haven't used the older DB, but the Vise Grip can be really compressed and clean, and doesn't add any drive. I would think that is a big improvement.

How about the Famous Spock Neck Pinch, then?

The Visegrip is good up to 18V, but can the Doubleback also work at more than 9V?
