Is there a Duncan equivalent to the Humbucker From H3LL?

Re: Is there a Duncan equivalent to the Humbucker From H3LL?

Full Shred neck or a Jazz would be the closest I would think.

To answer honestly, no, there isn't. I agree with the full shred neck/jazz reccomendation though. Those are probably the closest Duncan offers in their catalogue.

+1 to that. I also agree with the fact that the Full Shred neck or Jazz neck would come closest, because they also offer a lot of clarity and articulation, but the HFH is still a different animal imo.

If a "humbucker from hell" is comparable to a Jazz neck then that's a more misleading name than "Screamin' Demon." Still that pickup sounds like an interesting/useable concept (hadn't looked into it before.)

It is, and DiMarzio acknowledges this, but also tell you why it's named that. The name starts to make sense from that perspective.

Not to say they're overly similar, but if you're looking for a single coil sound from a humbucker-sized pickup, I'd also look at the Phat Cat. I replaced a Jazz N in my PRS SE with the Phat Cat, and I much prefer it.

Re: Is there a Duncan equivalent to the Humbucker From H3LL?

Of course, but if we're going to start recommending anything other than the Full Shred neck model (like the Phat Cat) the topic begins to go sideways.

But that begs the question, why not just get the Humbucker From Hell and call it a day?

FWIW, this very topic seems to come up quite regularly.

My assumption is aesthetics.

Edit: You could also call the Duncan custom shop and tell them you want a humbucker with 4100 turns of 41awg on the south coil, and 4100 turns of 42awg on the north. Alnico 5 bar magnet, Allen poles and a brass base plate. It will certainly get you in the field. Not sure if they will do the brass plate, which is pretty important, but the rest will get you in a very close ball park.

Obviously just buying the damned HFH is the best solution

HFH gets it's name from being ungodly bright (excessively so if used in the bridge slot), whereas Phat CatN's are a pretty warm PU. Nothing in common EQ-wise.

Just FYI there's a HFH for sale over at thegearpage.net for $44. It's blue, but you could put a cover on it.
