Is there a pedal that does this?

Alright, a pedal thats a wah and a volume pedal in one. Like a wah when you click it but when you click it off it just turns into a volume pedal. I have a budda bud wah, I know budda makes a pedal like what I described except it isn't a true volume pedal it just boosts the signal then drops it the same amount so the volume is just lower in the heel position instead of being completely off. At least thats what I read. I would just buy a seperate volume pedal but it would be cool to have both in 1. I want something to be able to do volume swells with and to get an effect like on castles made of sand(that is a volume pedal right?)

Dunlop and Morley both offer volume/wahs..

was i right with my assumption about the budda wah/volume not being a true volume pedal? I would go with that if it is a true volume pedal cause I'm familiar with that pedal and its got true bypass. John what would you recommend, I know your the wah expert?

I'll be willing to bet John will suggest a modded Vox 847, and a seperate volume pedal...but maybe not!

Re: Is there a pedal that does this?

Im not sure if jimi uses a volume swell in castles made of sand, but if it's the solo you're talking about, he actually recorded that without effect and then they reversed it in the studio. That's why there are all those swells, its actually the notes dying off, but reversed.

Re: Is there a pedal that does this?

That pedal was made by Dunlop, and it's called the Mr. Crybaby Super.
I think they may have discontinued it, but if you do regular Ebay searches, or put out a wanted ad for one, I'm sure you'll find one for about $60. Personally, I think it was the best wah Dunlop made, outside of the 535Q. It doesn't shave the high end off your signal, like most Dunlops, because it's acting as a passive volume, when off.

Re: Is there a pedal that does this?

Jimi's volume swell I'm going to think was most likely his pinky on the volume knob of the strat.

volume pedals don't screw with your signal at all? so the fact that this pedal is a volume pedal when off would mean that it acts like true bypass? thanks man I'll definately check that out!

edit* after further consideration I realized I could just stop being such a pansy and just get the dunlop high volume pedal, they're only like $30 used...

I have this pedal! The Mr. Crybaby Super! Yes, its got volume (not sure if its true bypass tho) and wah and a button on the side for a volume boost. The amount of boost can be pre-set with a knob on the side. I don't use the boost at all, but the pedal is very good. When the wah is off it is acutally a volume pedal. Very transparent, no noise at all, and no affect on tone. The wah tone is perfect too, classic. I highly recommend it, if you can find it. I liked it better than the morley which i tried simply because the morely has a separate stomp switch you have to hit to turn the wah off (volume).
