Well there's the 2014 LPJ which has no figuring on the top, way under 1k if you're interested. If you're open to something not Gibson there's the Fret-King Eclat which is apparently a great guitar http://fret-king.com/black-label/eclat-standard-246.html.

Well there's the 2014 LPJ which has no figuring on the top, way under 1k if you're interested. If you're open to something not Gibson there's the Fret-King Eclat which is apparently a great guitar http://fret-king.com/black-label/eclat-standard-246.html.

I don't think you'll get a new one for under 3k...

Best bet is to buy a used Historic/VOS R8...all the good features like a long neck tenon, holly head veneer, thin finishes, fat necks, aluminum stop bar (after 2000 or so), good stock pickups, plus a plain top and if can be had for under 3 large all day.

The Traditional in Blue is often so dark it's hard to see the stripes.
