... a no-load push-pull 500k pot? If so, who sells it?

I want to wire a humbucker up for spin-a-split (hence the no-load), and I also want the ability to switch it to parallel (hence the push-pull). Artie has already provided the wiring diagram for this, but I need to know if the part exists.

Thanks!

Re: Is there such a thing as ...

I should have warned you about my demented sense of humour. I like making diagrams that use parts that don't exist. :D

Seriously though, you'll probably have to "mod" a standard 500k push/pull.

Re: Is there such a thing as ...

I don´t know of anyone that makes "no load" pots directly, but it´s a simple mod and I´m pretty sure there´s a Vault thread on it ;)

Re: Is there such a thing as ...

Damn, I was afraid that would be the answer! Looks like your ideas are too radical for the electronics manufacturers, Artie! :)

Is doing the no load mod on a push-pull any different than on a regular pot?

Unfortunately, yes. You have to contend with getting the switch off. Its not real difficult, but the little tabs that you have to bend, don't like to be bent very many times. You just have to be careful not to break them off. I have a push/pull that I've disassembled. If you aren't in a big rush, I'll see if I can borrow my buddies good digital camera and show you the breakdown. It'll take a day or two.

I found that one on my own actually ... I didn't want Zerb to get cranky at me for not checking The Vault ;) Thanks though.

LOL...I´m pretty sure that´s the exact same tutorial... but as Artie said, theres no wwitch mounted... ;)

Re: Is there such a thing as ...

As it turns out, it was easier to just do it, than to try and document it. If you'ld like, just PM me an address, and I'll send this one to you. Gratis. ;)

Artie, once again you da man! Thanks! I will send that PM right away.

Re: Is there such a thing as ...

Got it. ;)

btw - For anyone who wants to do this, it was much easier than I thought. You just pull the shaft on the pot so that the switch is in its "on" position. Then gently bend back the tabs that hold the pot shell to the shaft housing. The pot then comes apart just far enough to get to the carbon track. There's plenty of room to use a dab of nail polish, or you can do what I did and just score across the trace with an exacto knife.

Then put the case back on and bend the tabs back. It took two minutes.
