Is this a Duckbucker?

As you can see, it's got the same pole pieces as a duckbucker, but the photos I've seen of duckbuckers don't have the rail grooves - though they could be underneath em.

Anyways, this is one of the three pups I got yesterday, but I'm not sure this one is a real Seymour. As you can see at the back, there's no sticker, and it's Red/White/Bare for wires.

The pups came from a cheap strat copy that one of my pawnshop guys got in the shop, and he felt it was insane for such a weenie guitar to be sporting such fine pups, so he pulled the pickguard out for sale separately. Not a bad deal for me, particularly with the free pickguard, though the guts are horrid as can be.

Re: Is this a Duckbucker?

Damn that's an odd lookin one. Judging from the pics it kinda looks like a (possibly) re-wound or re-wired hot or cool rails. The vintage rails have their rail blades split in the middle...doesn't look like its following that same pattern on the bottom. Thats a wierd one.

Re: Is this a Duckbucker?

DUckbucker that´s missing teh bobbin topper, all other Duncan Minihums would either have 2 full sets of poles (Lil 59, JBJr), or would have full rails, the DB is the only one with poles and one "hidden" rail per coil... R/W/Bare would further support this, because only the VIntage Rails and DB were internally hardwired in Parallel leaving hot, "cold" and ground as leads.

Missing toppers was btw one of the main reasons for the redesign of the Rails /Lil series ;)

That's what I figured, but since I've hever handled, let alone disassembled a duckbucker, I was hoping someone here had and could confirm... :>

Re: Is this a Duckbucker?

I would use it as a chance to make a cool bobbin top for it, like if you had a H/S/H guitar with a pearloid pickguard, you could make a pearloid top for it or something.

Maybe Duncan would sell you the top, too.
