Is this a Good Idea??

I have a wine red gibson les paul studio. Both pickups came with the guitar, and they both are just standard gibson pickups. I love the smooth bassy sound of the neck pickup and want to replace the bridge pickup with a seymour duncan. Is this possible? and if so, is it a good idea?
Does one pickup effect the other in any way?

The only way change is in the sound of the bridge position and bridge and neck together (middle posish). I say go for it. I'd suggest a 4 conducter bucker, so you can install a push/pull and wire up a series/parallel switch using the push/pull! That way you can go from standard bucker sound to single coil type sound (parallel wiring of a bucker sounds more like a single coil than a "split", which is when one coil of the bucker is active).

Oh and the best piece of advice I ever got on modding is do it well and clean so it's easy to mod back to standard spec, in case you want to sell the instrument to a music store. Have fun!!
