I'm thinking about getting one of these...

...and swapping the EMG-HZ's for a nickel-covered Alternative 8/59. Looking to do Hard Rock and Blues Rock with this guitar. Thoughts and (more) suggestions welcome!!!

No. This is a bad idea. I looked at the guitar and came away disturbed and belligerent. There are 3 kinds of guitars: Gibson type, Fender type, and superstrats. This one doesn't conform to any, and Ibanez needs to stick with the later. Just kiddin'. It's actually a pretty cool mix of features with being a single-cutaway, a kind of 'in the middle' scale length of 25", and has 24 frets. I'd probably do what you're thinking and ditch the stock pickups. I have yet to hear a passive EMG that I liked. Though, it's been awhile. Maybe they've gotten better.
