Is this color scheme too ghoulish?

Y'know, just playing my Kelly and realizing it's probably the best playing guitar I've got, and threw my favorite pickup combo in there to try out. The color scheme didn't quite match so I tried the wooden knobs and matching creme switch to even it out. I still think it's kinda ghoulish but wondering what you guys think

(The guitar, not the couch, lol)

I think it looks cool. Maybe knobs that match the pickups for a more monochrome look?
Yeah, maybe some ivory colored knobs would tie the room together. the rest is growing on me for sure.

Can you cover it in the couch material?

That would look awesome
Well that'd certainly be unique. Although, I can imagine how gross that would get after a couple of sweaty gigs :laugh2:

I don't mind the cream switch tip, since it kind of matches the pickups, binding, and logo, but I'd definitely go with black knobs on this one. The wood knobs are a bit...uh..."ghoulish"...I guess (??)

LOL , that's what I get for "expanding" my vocabulary instead coming straight out and calling it ugly . For real I Think you're right. The black knobs will be better than the wooden ones but TBH I can't get used to this. There's really no saving it, I don't know if creme EMGs could ever work with an all black guitar that looks like it takes design cues from a stealth fighter jet. maybe if it was chrome hardware and a flame top..

It sounds great so I'm willing to live with whatever for now. Just still shocks me every time I look at it.

Yeah, the cream wouldn't be my first choice. Straight white would probably look better.

Any chance you could just paint them? I've never painted EMG style pickups, but seems like it wouldn't be that difficult!

I've thought about that. I think they would take paint pretty well, would probably be able to get a REALLY nice finish if you scuffed them with some 400, 3 coats of primer, wet sand with 600, then shoot your color\gloss coats and polish the gloss real nice (or polish to a matte).. a silver color might look good, or a metallic black might match nicely. and I've got some of both laying around actually. my worry is that it would probably end up getting scratched off by the pick\strings\sweat eventually, but that might add to the charm.

I get the couch. Honestly. If my grandmother were still alive and deaf, I'd love jamming out at her place, loud af.

LOL good guess. That couch has been featured in so many of my guitar pics in the last few years as I've lived here on and off and spend a lot of time here anyway, especially since a lot of my guitars are "in storage" here. otherwise it's getting photographed in the basement with crap laying around everywhere or something like that. It's my mother's. My family just moved in though and we are transitioning to me buying the house (yay, always wanted to buy my childhood house) and for now my mom is still living here until she finds another place to live. the couch will be going with her and i'll turn that room into one hell of a jam room!

I wonder if you could vinyl wrap them somehow? Hmm...

I do think that paint, if applied properly, would actually last a good long time on those textured plastic covers.

Or, toss 'em on Reverb and just buy a black set, LOL! :)

That figured contact paper for shelves
marbling it

Yeah

Paper the whole thing
Nah that's too much

Just the pickup covers

Yeah they look way better in my SG. Its a little different than the default chrome pickups but I actually quite like it. Also just works out that they sound awesome in this guitar. Just don't know what word to call it but i certainly can't call this ghoulish.

And yeah I found a different background for this picture, I promise that is my toddler's bed and not mine
