Is this the future?

Re: Is this the future?

Reminds me of The Past.

Older members may remember some of the "bold" creations of Israeli maker, Gittler Guitars. Andy Summers of The Police once appeared in a promotional video, miming on something that resembled a television aerial with pickups and strings on it.

He uses it in the Synchronicity video as well, IIRC.
And yea, there've been several attempts at this kind of minimalist design.
My all time favorite is one Billy Gibbons has on an old cover of Guitar Player that was made from what was, essentially, junk metal parts.
The single humbucker could slide between neck and bridge on rails and it had a spring loaded mechanism that opened up some other parts.
Plus the volume knob was a faucet handle... very Mad Maxian.

I'm not entirely closed off to the idea. I'd like to see more customizable options from their store on the site.

It might be cool, but the website didn't exactly hold my attention long enough to find out.
But for the sake of this forum, I tried going back to the site, but it again failed to 'catch my eye'.

Re: Is this the future?

nope, purely because it lacks style and aesthetic value. Half the reason why we buy a certain guitar is because we think it looks cool, the other half is sound and playability. One of the main reasons PRS can charge so much and people will pay for it is proof of this.
