The last post is correct about the pins closest to the pot being active when it is pulled.
I also take issue with the single coil only being attached to a 500k volume pot and no tone control in position 3. It isn't so much that there is no tone control, rather the total resistance loading a single coil, say, in the neck position is 125k. Single coils only loaded with a 250k volume and no tone control are normally considered too bright as it is, at least compared to the other positions.
