It is finished!!

Ladies and gentlemen of the forum,

Some of you may remember my initial excitement at the purchase of a Warmoth Explorer nearly 2 years ago. You may also know that this guitar has been plagued with difficulties (mainly my inability to solder) resulting in it spending a lot of the time sat doing nothing.

I am now pleased to announce that the guitar is now in working order.

Say hello to Raven

Cool man! It's nice. Getting through those difficulties always makes me appreciate the finished guitar that much more. Congrat's!

Re: It is finished!!

What pickups and control scheme did you go with?

those look like prails with the mounting rings with the switches

Yea those are P-Rails with Triple Shot mounting rings. The bridge is a Fishman Powerbridge piezo. The controls are 2 volumes (concentric), 1 tone, and a dedicated preamp volume for the piezo. There is one 3-way switch selecting neck/bridge P-Rails, and another to select between P-Rails and piezo. I also included a push-pull on the tone pot to switch the two P-Rails from being in parallel with each other to being in series.

Cool looking top and finish ... is it transparent black?

That's black dye over flame maple

Re: It is finished!!

What tuners did you use? I've got a neck with that headstock and everything sticks out further than the end of the headstock. I've got Schallers on it, I think a switch to the mini buttons would work.

Re: It is finished!!

cool lookin' body! kinda surprised you didn't go with a typical explorer type headstock, but whatever makes your boat float! (not bad, just different)

Hotness, but +1 to the non-matching headstock.

also I think you should've done the headstock in either opaque black or trans black with a flame maple veneer.

Re: It is finished!!

that looks cool! love the colour! I agree it would look killer with a black or black dyed flame maple veneer on the headstock to match the body.

Re: It is finished!!

I wouldn't worry too much over the headstock. It is a sweet instrument. You like the P rails? I'm thinking about putting one in the neck on my next build.

The tuners are Gotoh SG38's. http://www.warmoth.com/Gotoh-SG38-Tuners-C727.aspx

Yea I like the headstock how it is. Also the P-Rails sound very sexy indeed, very versatile pickups. If you're going to get some I'd recommend a pair, because you open up a whole load more combinations to play with. One of my favourites is the two P90's in series with one another... Super fat and growly :)
