Its always about Schenker...

Re: Its always about Schenker...

Wow! The guy is a total rock star. Killer blues on the acoustic and great rock too.

Re: Its always about Schenker...

Paul suffered the same fate as Jake E. lee did with Ozzy...no matter HOW good he was, he'd never live up.

Paul was a good working guitarist as described by Pete...and thats the truth..he wasnt a virtuoso..nor did he have Mikes creativity or songwriting abilities..but he was a dang good player...

also like Mike..he had ALOT of off nights..I have a horrible bootleg of him filling in for Mike in 1978 and its awful..but the next night Paul could rip yer face off....

:headbang:

And I am a Schenker fan...

Oh I know Steve....just figured some other may not know about Paul :bigthumb:

I'm having a "reliving my youth vicariously through youtube" weekend :14:

Re: Its always about Schenker...

I didn't much of anything, if anything at all, about Paul until you turned me on to the UFO stuff, Jeff. At first I had no idea there were parts on Strangers that was not Michael. Since you told me, I can hear the tone difference between the first 7 songs and the rest of the album. He gets the job done and very raw.

I saw a vid yesterday from about '95-'96 with Michael, Pete and Phil of "Love To Love" and "Too Hot Too Handle" from Chicago. They sounded great in those vids. Don't know if the other guys were original members or not. The UFO site seems indicate that it was at that time.

Re: Its always about Schenker...

No no..Paul didnt play on Strangers..hes on the BBC Radio One CD I sent you...

Though Paul filled in when Mike freaked and quit (for the final time) on the same tour Strangers was recorded from

BBC Radio one..through "lights out", is Paul chapman from 1980...the last 4 or 5 songs...starting with Built for comfort are from a 1975 concert with Chapman and Schenker.

Re: Its always about Schenker...

Ohhhh, ok. So Strangers is all Schenker then.
Ok, that clears it all up.
