I've got an original early 80s squire strat and....

I'm thinking of bringing it out of retirement. At the moment it has hot rails in there that I fitted in the late 80s. I now want to revert it single coil pups - the strat players tones I like are Robin Trower, Ritchie Blackmore, Hendrix and Rory Gallagher. I guess I'm thinking big and warm - not twangy and ice-picky.
Anyone got any ideas or suggestions?

I think a set of the Antiquities for Strat (with the Custom bridge) would work great for the sounds you want. I have a set in my Strat Plus and absolutely love em' :)

Totally! The Antiquity Texas Hots with the Custom bridge is probably just what the doctor ordered for that ax. Lew

That's a interesting story :cool3: I have a 84' SQ squire that spent most
of the 80's w/t a Hotrails. In the 90's I put a Lil'59 in place of the hotrails.
after a recording session in 98' I retired the guitar Cuz' it needs a refret.
I'm think about fixing her up and putting it back to stock looking. I'm
thinking of going with a Duncan Custom Bridge. :)
BTW, it has a APS -II in the neck and a SSL-I in the middle
