I've got the itch for a new amp..

I've had a 59 RI Bassman for the past few years and I've loved it to death but I think it's time to move on. 45 watts just isn't necessary at all when playing small clubs and venues so what I'd like to do is move into a head and 2x12 setup. I'd be comfortable at moving down to 30 watts.

I live 2 hours from any guitar store worth paying a visit to so I haven't had the chance to get out there and play anything (which is painful). I need something that gets some incredible cleans. I also need a good dirty channel but an amp that takes pedals well would suffice. Reverb and trem a plus but not my main selling point

The last amp I fell in love with was a Dr. z MAZ 38. The cleans shimmered and the natural overdrive was incredible but I don't want to settle on buying something from memory.

Anyone have some suggestions to start? I can look up some sound clips and videos to help me along so I can start making some calls to shops.

Ps, Rig = Les Paul > Exotic BB preamp > Jekyl & Hyde > a couple of delays

Thanks a ton!

No reverb, but trem is on there. Plus the master voltage technology is amazing. Don't let a 12 watt rating fool you, I use it at larger club gigs and I'm not running anywhere near full tilt. Takes pedals well.

Or there is the 65 Amps Tupelo if 6V6 is your thing.

Both awesome suggestions I haven't really thought about.

I used to own a mesa tremoverb for a while and it was just too much for me to handle at the time. Haven't really messed with one until a recent studio visit. I haven't tried the lonestar specifically though.

lpmarshall- I've never heard of 65 amps before and they look incredible! Im at work right now so I cant check out the clips until a little later.

I'm a big fan of the several Dr. Z amps I played. If I was a more serious player, and actually played gigs regularly, I'm sure I'd own either a MAZ or the Ghia.

I just bought a bugera 333xl tube head. it has 3 channels but you can go from warm overdrive to over the top distortion. Not to mention very crisp and lush clean .

i caught a lot of crap when i bought this amp but it is well worth it. a lot of mouths shut when i lit it up.
