Alright. I was reading about OP amps and negative feedback loops (cause I'm a nerd) and the page says that negative feedback loops lower gain. So I thought to myself, "Self. What if I, instead of a using gain control that raises the gain, started at full saturation and use a -feedabck control that lowers the gain down a preferable level. I haven't tried it yet but I imagine it should be a dual gang pot. With one set controlling the second gain stage and the last gain stage. So that way I could control them simultanously.
The only reason I would do that is to keep the sound somewhat pure and not totally destroyed. since, after the first gain stage, it would be totally saturated.
or.....Has this been done?
