Jack and Pots

Hey all,

I'm making my first ever pickup switch in a few short days. I'm going with the Alt 8 in my maple neckthru, basswood winged, Ibanez RG. I was curious to know if any other improvements can be made by putting in new pots and a new jack? I don't want to switch from 500k to 250k pots or anything like that, but rather are there better brands for pots and the jack than what came stock in my guitar? Or does this even matter? Thanks folks for all the suggestions you made to me earlier.

Re: Jack and Pots

if it ain't broke, don't fix it (unless your tone is broken, aka changing pickups)

That's a cliche, I know, but if the pots are the proper value, and they don't scratch or pop when you turn them, then why change them? It's such a slippery slope trying to get "the best". There's always something better out there.

Re: Jack and Pots

The pots and the jack work just fine, thankfully. I'm more curious than anything. My gut tells me to leave them alone for the most part. I probably will leave them alone unless someone comes in with a convincing arguement on switching to a certain kind or brand etc.

Anyone ever second guess themselves on pickup selection, after they made a decision?
