Jack White's guitars

I know this is technically the Pickup Lounge, but bear with me.

I've recently been obsessed with the White Stripes, and I was wondering what kind of guitars Jack uses on the Under Blackpool Lights concert DVD. also, what tuning does he use for Death Letter?

Re: Jack White's guitars

I think it's an old Sears brand, an Airline, or something like that. He likes Sears amps (Silvertones) too. It's totally sh*tty gear, but the tone on the live version of "Seven Nation Army" is badass! As far as I know, all White Stripes songs are in either standard or open E.

If I'm not mistaken, the pickups in the guitar are actually single coils that have been disguised to look like humbuckers! It is a great tone, but it wouldn't cut through with a bass in the mix. Part of his tone is also an E-H Big Muff. I don't think he takes the silvertone out on the road though.

The guitar is actually made out of plastic, called resoglass.

Re: Jack White's guitars

i am not sure about the dvd but i have seen him with an american tele in his hands too. i am not sure how much recording he does for the white stripes with that guitar though.

Re: Jack White's guitars

I've seen the stripes more times than I am sure of. He DOES indeed use the old Sears amps live...I have stood in front of them.

He also runs a couple Fender Twins. His airline guitars are supposed to be stock with the electronics 'fixed' so that they dont feed back. they didnt sound like single coils to me...very fat sounding. I saw a whammy pedal and a Rat on the floor.

my wife bought the BLackpool DVD. I thought it was horrible.
