Hi - newbie - 1st post here

Just got a Jackson Adrian Smith sdx - impulse buy as I was looking for an inexpensive floyd equipped guitar to customise and when I picked this guitar up it just felt nice. Many years ago I bought a Charvel 475 for the same sort of money and it turned out to be a cracker of a guitar ...... HSS active Jackson pickups with very usable active mid boost (18db I think) and Schaller made low profile recessed FR. Played it to death literally.

My main gigging guitar now is a 1994 Patrick Eggle Berlin custom 22 HSS.

The Berlin is fairly bright by nature and has a Custom Custom in the bridge along with a couple of SD singles (SH-1s?). The brightness was largely down to the caps used on vol and tone pots - I replaced the cap on the vol pot as rolling it back was just too trebley ..... might take it off completely some day

I really like the Custom Custom pickup and would like to use a floyd spaced one of these in the Jackson and some matching single coils

The Indonesian Jackson Adrian Smith differs from the US version in that it uses a Basswood body instead of Alder (or Ash?) .... so theoretically should be a little mellower

So its basically a HSS Strat Basswood body, maple neck with maple fingerboard, with a floyd rose - pickups mounted on the scratchplate - 5 way switch - unknown as yet vol/tone pot ohmages (will change those too if needed)

The current stock Jackson HB isn't too bad apparently according to reviews and would suggest that the guitar is not that 'mellow' in nature at all ..... the 2 single coils are thin and not nice so they offer no real clues .... they certainly sound nothing like my 98 US Strat Deluxe with stock n3s thats for sure.

So - what I'd like would be suggestions for :

1. Passive option of Custom Custom (FR spaced) in the bridge and 2 other single coils that would compliment it

or

2. Active/Passive options that offer mid boost and aren't a pain with fender style scratchplates (no access to control cavity /battery space from rear)

I already have a EBMM Luke with EMGs so I'd prefer the new Jackson to remain passive and hassle free.

Thanks for reading

Pots are 500k, I put a DMZ Gravity Storm, Area 67, and Injector in mine, and it sounds fantastic in every switch position.
