Jackson dinky neck pickup

Hello everybody.I'm going to change the neck pickup of my Jackson Dinky DK2:

-Alder body
-Rosewoord fingerboard
-Floyd rose trem
-H-S-S configuration

It now has a STK-1 sc,but I'm looking for a warmer tone (I use it mostly for clean tones). In the bridge it has a Blues Saraceno PATB-3,but I don't think the Patb-1 would fit...
My choice was among the Little '59,the SVR-1 vintage rail and the Dimarzio Chopper (maybe an Air norton S?)
Any idea?If you have any other pickup to suggest, feel free to add!

Re: Jackson dinky neck pickup

I'd try a Cool Rails neck first. The Hot Rails neck is slightly warmer but muddier for rhythm, while sounding fat for solos. The Cool Rails is a bit cleaner, and more versatile for both rhythm and lead. You could also figure out a way to split it and get more traditional single coil neck sounds.

It's hard to go wrong with a Cool Rails for everything you've described you want.

Re: Jackson dinky neck pickup

Yes,I've noticed the cool rails but...isn't it too bright? My actual neck pickup is very bright, and I wanted something warmer

Re: Jackson dinky neck pickup

Yes,I've already heard the audio clips, but unfortunately due to my poor audio system I can notice very few differences among the pickups...so,if someone already tried this PU,he could give me some advice

Re: Jackson dinky neck pickup

If you want it for mostly clean tones, why don't you put a Fender strat single coil in there? You can get them very cheap on ebay.

Re: Jackson dinky neck pickup

And a strat single coil will be better than the D.Designed stk-1?

"Better" is a totally subjective word my friend. PLENTY people over the decades have used Fender single coils for clean tones.........

I just noticed you said D. Designed - is it not a genuine Duncan you have in there?

Re: Jackson dinky neck pickup

You are right,it is a Duncan Designed STK-1 single coil

Well, like I said, "better" is all subjective. Some people like the Duncan Designed pickups, I think they're alright but not as good as a real Duncan.

I would think a Fender USA single coil neck pickup would be "better" than what you have in there already. However, it may not be what you need, or a stacked humbucker might match better with your other pickups, I don't know.
It was just a suggestion you could look at.

Re: Jackson dinky neck pickup

I didn't consider Fender single coil,I know Fender clean tones are very good...and Fender pickup are very cheap on the web...maybe you gave me the right word.

Re: Jackson dinky neck pickup

I have some and I really like them for what you're looking for. I'd try to get the USA ones though.
But wait and see what other people on here suggest, like I say I dont have a lot of experience with single coils.

Re: Jackson dinky neck pickup

Well,I'll be waiting for other suggestions...anyway this isn't a change I'm gonna do in short, but if I could get some ideas in advance, then it will be easier!
