Jackson (old) Professional series

hi dudes

A friend of mine has one dinky (not sure, but it seems like one) with that "professional" on the headstock, 24 frets, volume pot (no tone pot), HSH Jackson pups... and i was wondering of the construction of that one, cause i have one jb/jazz combo, and i think they can match very well on alder bodies (aren´they?)...so he could borrow them

thanks a lot guys...

Re: Jackson (old) Professional series

you'll know if it's a dinky or not if you look at the neck joint. dinky's are all bolt on while soloists aer neck through. also the dinky is a bit smaller.

dinky's are pretty much all made of alder.. i think they ARE all made of alder. wait till zerberus chimes in, he'll tell you all about it lol

Re: Jackson (old) Professional series

Need more info to be precise. But most professionals are poplar, some are alder. Poplar an alder are tonally very similar, so you´re idea should work out fine

BTW: Soloists and Rhoads of the time period are also mostly poplar ;)

Re: Jackson (old) Professional series

it´s bolt on, so it´s a dinky, right? i just forget it comes with a floyd rose bridge, but can´t tell you more info zerb...

btw i tried one RR3 or RR5 (the pro series one, not the USA) that comes with JB/JB set and it sounded pretty good, so if the dinky is made of alder it could sound as good as the RR...

Re: Jackson (old) Professional series

I have a Professional (1996). Mine is alder (at least the tag says so), with tone and volume knobs, bolt-on 24 fret neck, and licensed Floyd. It is HSH also. I put JB/Jazz and left the middle pup stock. The JB and Jazz sound great, and I recommend. However, the middle pup seems overpowered, but who cares, I don't use it.

Correct, Bolt-on =Dinky, Neckthru= Soloist

Neckthru: RR-5, Bolt On w/Floyd RR-3. Although the Dual JBs scream RR-5 as well, the 3 has D.Des.

Again, I don´t think most people would even notice the difference between alder and poplar ;)
