jam session

Took my hollow body Crimson Less Paul to a jam session yesterday.I was amazed at how well it held up. Ton of gain, controllable feedback, a lot of diverse tones. It was then first time I took that guitar since I had no idea what the styles would be and I needed a versatile guitar (and hollow bodies are a bit more versatile than solid bodies, or so I thought yesterday evening :D )

I did change all the wiring to make it even more robust. It's such an embarrassment to have a guitar quite because of a loose wire or shorting of a cable. Had that once. Never.again!!

What would you guys take along for a jam that covers jazz, blues, soul and funk?

Definitely a 335. If the volume was going to be on the loud side, an LP Std as a second guitar. If the volume is moderate, a full hollowbody would be a nice touch as guitar #2, like a Casino or a single cutaway Ibanez. That could be fun.

J6three.JPG Washburn J6 Jazz guitar (An L5 CES) clone from Japan. Purchased 1988 Mission Viejo. Upgraded to Seymour Duncan Seth Lover pickups (incredible tone). Elixir strings. Yamaha THR10 amp into either Behringer amp or Fender 212R Amp. Band-in-A-Box (one page) lead sheets for Tenderly Eb, Because of You (1951) C (lots of requests), When Sunny Gets Blue F, Foggy Day F, Shadow of Your Smiles G, Easy Living, Cry Me A River, Pete Kelly's Blues, Lullaby of Birdland, Bluesette, I'll Remember April, Summer Samba, Corcovado, My Little Boat, Day in the Life of a Fool. ( I would not explect to play more than 2 or three). The jazz version of Sugar is great also I call My Baby My Sugar, I Don't Know enough About You, You Go To My Head, Fly Me To Moon 4/4 ... Blues: Fever, Stormy Monday, Route 66, Blues in the Night, Night Train, Statesboro Blues, K.C. Blues, Tin Roof Blues, .. Rock: Rhonda, Shake- Rattle, Great Balls, Long Tall Sally .. Doo Wop: Breaking Up is Hard, Then You Can Tell Me, Come Go With Me, (most of this I do without lead sheets but good to have them) ..

My Schecter C1 with P-Rails bridge, Fuglybucker neck. Very versatile guitar that I can play just about anything on.

I'm always leary of 'do everything' guitars; even if they could (which I doubt), what's the point in that? How many guys here would want to own only one guitar, with only one set of PU's? The mere thought gives me chills. I'm going to have to lie down.

Re: jam session

Epiphone Dot or ES335, any decent semi-hollow, even an old Ibanez Artist as 2nd fiddle.
