Per Barlo's suggestion, here's a little track than interested parties can download, play over, and then hopefully post their work in this thread. It's got a few clams here and there, but it's kinda fun to play over.

If anyone can record a bass track, that would be great. I think the track is busy enough as it is so the bass isn't really missed all that much. I have not had much luck recording bass...can't seem to place it in the mix well. Still working on it.

Hope you enjoy!

Re: Jam Track: Open G Jam

Sounds good to me. I've got to learn some rhythm playing.

I'm sure we can have a go at it over the next few days. I'm not going to rush and stuff it up - but I'm working on it. (not stuffing it up).

Re: Jam Track: Open G Jam

Lent my bass to one of my students but here is a quick take on it sans bass. I would love to hear the whole tune, very Black Crowes, got to jam out Marc Ford style

****Didn't realize I didn't get the full download, I'll repost later.****

KMC I am assuming you laid that bass piece down - very nice, very complimentary of the song.

Re: Jam Track: Open G Jam

Nice - This definitely has a Stones feel.
Watch your ears boys, I might break out my slide :D

Re: Jam Track: Open G Jam

Sigh I cannot record anything in two weeks, maybe or maybe not I'll go to work to make some sneaky stuff with our chief....we love to dabble with crazy lab things:laugh2:
I'll download this track, sounds nice and Stone'ish.
Great with the added bass.

Re: Jam Track: Open G Jam

Here's my take guys... hope you like it... had much fun doing it. And I really improved my tone by removing my damn Behringer direct box. It was thinning down the tone quite a bit. Ths is the SH-5 Custom at work:

And thanks Falstaff, this is one hell of a killer riff! :yourock:

Wow! I daren't have a go after listening to that. You shudda joined the Stones.

Re: Jam Track: Open G Jam

This is so much *NOT* what I want to happen...c'mon Lee, you're one of the great players of this forum... pick up the guitar and do it!

I admit I really like this one... I had sort of a blast of inspiration. Blame it on Falstaff riff, I liked it so much... and this is my kind of stuff. I think the vibe just fits me like a glove.

I wish I had the talent to write such a cool rhythm part. I'm not a very good rhythm player and/or writer. No later than yesterday, I've been accused of writing soft porn stuff :) I think I'm better at writing solos on other people's parts.

Thanks Lee... coming from you, it's always very much appreciated because I really like your playing.

Re: Jam Track: Open G Jam

Sly that was excellent! Definitely a Stonesy vibe but that's all good IMO.

Lee don't be a wuss! Let it all hang out man!

Re: Jam Track: Open G Jam

Nice work, guys! Wattage, what did you use on that? Loved it when you really were cutting loose on the end.

Sly...very Waddy Wachtel! Tasty stuff. Have a souvlaki at Arahova on me. Did you use a mic'd amp?

Lee, I hope you join in soon...it's all about fun and not about competing!

Re: Jam Track: Open G Jam

I used a bunch of stuff. Mostly my Tele with a 59n into my XXX though the end is my LP with Ant's into my XXX both had a Crybaby GCB95 in the line.

The mid section is the first solo reversed for a tripper kind of sound. Then after that is the LP, much more traditional.

Oh you know me - any sort of challenge and I'm there.

It's not my natural style these days (rock) but it's an awesome backing track.

Anyway, I've given it a go. If nothing else it's good vibrato practice.

It seems to have recorded a little bit too quiet so you may have to switch it up a touch.

Thanks a lot Falstaff,

No mic'd amp, here's my new rig (sold all my crappy old stuff and bought this this month):

Ibanez SZ720 (SH-5 bridge) -> Tech 21 amp (british and hi gain setting) -> sound card -> Cool Edit Pro 2

Simple as it gets... no effect aside from the analog modeling of the Tech 21 amp... this is a jewel, sounds almost as good as a real Marshall. Even live, people think it's a small tube amp.

And my fingers of course... I hope they contribute a little... they hurt after this jam anyway :)
