Anyone see that Turser got Guitar Player award for value of the year?

I always thought they were pretty low grade guitars. Am I wrong in making this assumption. Anyone have one?

Re: Jay Turser JT-200

i've got a Jay Turser JT-136, which is alot like a gibson es-175. it is a decent guitar for its price in stock form. i just bought some kent armstrong p-90's for it today. i also put on a gotoh tune-o-matic bridge(which stratsandaks did a fabulous job modifying). i plan to get some better tuners and a different nut. i might get the frets worked on too. after all of this, it will be a very nice guitar, but not a stock Jay Turser.

Jay Tursers are good budget guitars that need work to be great, but it can be done.

Re: Jay Turser JT-200

had a spirite. look it up on their site, its the ugliest guitar ever made. neck wasn't that bad, smooth finished, decent action, frets were all filed nicely, but of mediocre quality (wore down quick). typical plywood body (albeit ugly in the first place), tuners/bridge definitely need to be replaced, wavy finish, scratchy pots, humbucker sounded like a strat single coil for some reason, single coils weren't bad, but you'd probably want to replace them anyways. Wired incorrectly from the factory. cheesy adjustable nickel nut.

Other than that, a great guitar:D I really did like the shape of the neck, and the near flat fretboard. I'm sure with some work it could have been a decent guitar.

Re: Jay Turser JT-200

I have a serpent lp that would go toe to toe with any epiphone of agile. I have no colplaints and the pickups suck. That's why I put emg's in. People bag on them, the lp is the only turser I would get though.
